So apparently this theory of climate change has been debunked, people have lost faith in it and people are no longer looking in that direction.
I have to say, in my little educated opinion that this makes absolutely no bloody difference. They missed the point from the start!
So here’s a ramble for you with two main points, firstly global warming as a trend has been happening for a long time slowly and gradually with peaks and troughs in temperature for millions of years. If you want proof of this, look outside – any glaciers? ( ok for some of you reading this that might be true) but in general we’re no longer in an ice age. So things have warmed up, I’ll leave it to the nitpickers to decide if we’ve had a statistically significant effect. This may be the first time that humans as a species have tried to measure it, but it’s nothing new. Which brings me neatly to my second point, since this is going to continue anyway, how are we going to deal with it? What plans do we need to put in place to live with a changing climate and the more chaotic weather events we are seeing and will see in the future? There appears to be a lot of talk about ‘reversing’ global warming – total idiocy! – you’re trying to reverse a natural process, why not try to nail the tectonic plates in place while you’re at it. Don’t get me wrong I totally agree and back the plans to reduce polluting materials into the environment, recycle more and become far more efficient and planet friendly with our generation and use of energy. To me that’s common sense, we shouldn’t destroy the beauty and natural resources of the planet for economic and political gain. Now I realise that’s idealistic and possibly nieve but the truth is that we do need to find better and cleaner ways to generate power because fossil fuels are getting too expensive in their economic and human costs.
I don’t know if anyone will read this and it’s only my idealistic opinion but to quote a certain US Governor “Stop whining!” let’s plan to live on the planet rather than planning to change it, which at the end of the day simply won’t work.
